WHO IS THE "LORD OF HOSTS" ?
The term "LORD of hosts" (Yahweh Sabaoth) is used 245 times in the Old Testament, of which 54 are in Isaiah, 71 in Jeremiah, 53 in Zechariah, and 24 in Malachi - a total of 202 usages out of 245 in these four prophetical books alone! We learn at least six things about the term "LORD of hosts" and all speak of His power and majesty!
(1) He is the REDEEMER!
Isaiah 44:6 - "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and His Redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside Me there is no God."
Isaiah 47:4 - "As for our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His Name, the Holy One of Israel."
(2) He is the GOD OF ISRAEL!
Isaiah 48:2 - "For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is His Name."
(3) He is the HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL!
Isaiah 54:5 - "For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is His Name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall He be called."
(4) He is the MIGHTY ONE OF ISRAEL!
Isaiah 1:24 - "Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease Me of Mine adversaries, and avenge Me of Mine enemies."
(5) He is the GREAT, THE MIGHTY GOD!
Jeremiah 32:17-19 - "Ah Lord GOD! Behold, Thou hast made the heaven and the earth by Thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for Thee: Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is His Name, Great in counsel, and mighty in work; for Thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."
(6) He is the KING OF GLORY!
Psalm 24:7-10 - "Lift up ;your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory."
DO WE HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT YESHUA IS THE MESSIAH TO BE SAVED?
JOHN 20:30-31
"And many other signs truly did YESHUA (Jesus) in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that YESHUA (Jesus) is the MESSIAH, the SON of GOD; and that believing ye might have life through His NAME!"
ACTS 4:12
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
ROMANS 10:9
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord YESHUA (Jesus), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11
"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a NAME which is above every name: That at the NAME OF YESHUA (Jesus) every knee should bow; of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that YESHUA HaMASHIACH (Jesus Christ) is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
ROMANS 10:13
"For whosoever shall call upon the NAME of the Lord shall be saved."
