King James Translation of II Thessalonians 2:6-7 - "And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work; only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way."
The "HE" of verse 6 must refer to that which is the "man of sin" (also called "the son of perdition") of verse 3. It is the Antichrist who will one day be revealed. That which is preventing him from the day of his revelation refers to the "HE" of verse 7 who is preventing the "man of sin" from being revealed, and according to verse 7 the "man of sin" will not be revealed until "HE be taken out of the way."
It seems logical and required that the one Who prevents evil is the Holy Spirit of God and HE is the one who will be removed during the coming DAY of the LORD (Tribulation period) thus allowing the Antichrist to be revealed AFTER the Rapture of the Church - the event which verse 1 refers to as "our gathering together unto Him" -
Therefore the "restrainer" must refer to the Holy Spirit and He is the "HE" of verse 7 who will be removed before the tribulation begins or immediately after the church is raptured.
